This page explains what this website and the game at play.bloggs.world keep about you, why, and for how long. Questions and requests go to support@bloggs.world.
Signing in
You sign in with a Microsoft account. Microsoft tells us only an identifier it creates for this game, which is different from the one any other app gets. We don't receive your name, your email address or anything else from your Microsoft account. We keep the identifier in a one-way scrambled form, and that is your account here. Other players see your name with a short tag made from that scrambled form, such as alice#1a2b3c4, which tells you apart from anyone else with the same name and says nothing about your Microsoft account.
What the game keeps
- Your player: the name you play as, the skin you upload, where you are in the world and where you come back after dying, your health, and what you carry. The game saves it as you play.
- Chat: the messages you send go to everyone playing, with your name. The latest 1,000 or so are kept, so that players who join can see what was said. Older messages are deleted as new ones arrive.
- The world: blocks you place and break become part of the shared world. They are not recorded against your account.
- Sessions: while you are signed in, we keep a record of the session with when it started and was last used, the kind of browser and device (for example "Firefox on macOS", shown in your list of signed-in devices), and a scrambled form of your IP address and of your browser's user agent. A session ends 14 days after your last visit, 30 days after you signed in, when you sign out, or when you end it from the device list. Its record is deleted then.
- Your IP address: the game uses it while you are connected, to limit how many connections one address can open and how fast requests can arrive. It is not stored with your account. Our web server's error log can contain it, and that log is deleted after 7 days.
- Logs: the game's log notes when sessions start and end, with your scrambled account identifier and the kind of device. It holds no IP addresses. The oldest entries are deleted when the log reaches its size limit.
What stays in your browser
- A cookie,
__Host-bw_session, that keeps you signed in. It holds a random key and nothing else. - A cookie,
__Host-bw_login, while you sign in. It connects your trip to Microsoft and back, and expires after 10 minutes. - In the browser's storage: the name you last played as and the skin you last chose, so the game can fill them in next time, and a random key for playing without an account, which bloggs.world doesn't use. While you sign in, the tab also remembers the name you typed until you are back.
Signing in needs these cookies, so we don't ask for consent to them. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, in the game or on this website.
This website
bloggs.world is served by Cloudflare. It sets no cookies and loads nothing from anyone else. Cloudflare handles your IP address to deliver the pages and keeps a record of requests for a few days.
Mail to an address at bloggs.world is forwarded by Cloudflare to the mailbox we read. We use what you write only to answer you.
Who else handles it
- Leaseweb, in the Netherlands, runs the server that the game and everything it keeps are on.
- Cloudflare runs this website, the domain's DNS and the email forwarding.
- Microsoft handles signing in. What Microsoft does with your account is covered by the Microsoft privacy statement.
We don't sell anything about you, show ads, or share it with anyone else. Cloudflare and Microsoft are based in the United States and may handle data there, under the safeguards EU data protection law requires.
Why we keep it
Your account, your player, chat and sessions are what it takes to run the game you asked to play (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). The limits by IP address and the logs keep the game working and fair for everyone, which is our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
How long
Your account and your player are kept for as long as the world exists, or until you ask us to delete them. Sessions, chat and logs are deleted on the schedules above.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we keep about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Write to support@bloggs.world with your player name. We will ask you to show that the account is yours before we act, and we answer within a month. If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
The game is for people aged 13 and over. If we learn that a player is younger, we delete their account.
